Religious Education
At Ashperton Primary Academy, Religious Education (RE) helps children to understand the diverse world around them and reflect on their own beliefs and values.
We follow the Herefordshire Agreed Syllabus for Religious Education 2025–2030, providing a rich and balanced curriculum where children learn about a range of religions and worldviews. Through this, they develop respect, curiosity, and an appreciation of different cultures and traditions.
Our lessons encourage children to explore “big questions” about life through discussion, storytelling, and reflection. Children are supported to share their own ideas while listening thoughtfully to others in a safe and inclusive environment.
RE also makes a strong contribution to children’s SMSC (Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural) development, helping them to reflect on values, understand different perspectives, and develop a strong sense of respect and responsibility.
We actively promote British Values, including mutual respect, tolerance of different faiths and beliefs, and individual liberty, preparing children to be thoughtful members of society.
We are also proud to work with Checkpoint, who visit fortnightly to deliver engaging, Christian-based assemblies. Through interactive storytelling, they explore important messages and morals in a way that is fun and meaningful for all children.
At Ashperton Primary Aacdemy we aim to nurture open-minded, reflective learners who are well-prepared to thrive in a diverse and ever-changing world.
