Homework week beginning 22/10/19

HALF TERM HOMEWORK:

Reading - the children have been tasked with reading the article on plastic in their non fiction comprehension book pg 11- 19 and answering all of the questions. This does not need to be in until the Monday after half term.

The children have also been asked to read a book over half term based on world war 2, which will be our focus when we return.

I have attached a website https://www.booksfortopics.com/ww2 that gives a list of suitable books for Year 6 and a short blurb on them. I have also provided the children with a printed out copy of these books.

I have told the children that a visit to the library would be good to get their chosen books. I have also told them about a website called 'World of Book's which sells second hand books in excellent condition which you may also want to purchase from. I love it and this is where I get all my books from! https://www.worldofbooks.com/en-gb/category/childrens-books

Spellings - the children have 10 more tricky year 5/6 words to ensure they learn. I have also included the ones they should know from this half term. It would be a really good idea to ensure they know how to spell all of them really well. Don't forget Squeebles is an excellent app to practise spellings on. Sheet attached at bottom of page as Half term tricky words.

Maths

Higher score - order of operations BODMAS (page 17) and Prime numbers and prime factors (page 12)
