Life in Red Class
In Red Class we aim to provide a welcoming, safe, caring and stimulating environment.
In Red class we follow the ‘Early Years Foundation Stage’ curriculum.
We use this to help us to provide a relevant, broad, balanced, differentiated and progressive curriculum. We focus on the children's interests, having a weekly planning meeting with the class and we build on these. Each child is treated as an individual and encouraged to fulfil their potential.
Throughout the curriculum we try to have as much fun as possible, learning a great deal through first hand, sensory activities and play. We use both our indoor and outdoor classrooms to learn and have regular Forest School sessions.
To ensure a smooth transition from pre-school to school, our Reception class team visit pre-schools to meet the new children. Children also come into school for pre-school visits where they are able to start building relationships with their teacher and classmates and can become familiar with routines, the classroom and school. Our main pre-school providers are – Townsend Nursery and Jack In The Box Nursery, though we do have children come from other pre-schools, such as Burley Gate Pre-school, Playstation and Gateway Nursery.
